چکیده
Well-authenticated information on pineapple plant response to niitrogen constitutes a valuable criterion in commercial fertilizer practices because the amounts and time of their application are determined by the physical appearance of the plants, designated as plant status, as well as by chemical analyses of their tissues. Besides nutrition, physical factors such as light, temperature, and moisture may also influence the appearance or status of plants as measured by the chlorophyll content, succulence; and texture of the leaves. Under greenhouse conditions light was approximately 30% lower and temperature from three,to five degrees higher than in the open. Data presented in a previous publication (26) showed that growth and intake of nutrient mineral elements by A. comosus grown in nutrient solutions under greenhouse conditions increased more with high than with low amounts of nitrogen. Data for the same plants on dry matter, chlorophyll, titrable acidity, ascorbic acid, and various carbohydrate fractions are presented below. Methods

A study concerned with the effects of iron on chlorophyll, acidity, ascorbic acid, and carbohydrate fractions of Ananas comosus was reported in a previous publication (35). Also, the effects of different amounts of potassium on growth and ash constituents of the same plants were reported in a former paper of this series (36). This study is concerned with the effects of potassium on chlorophyll,...
متن کاملEffects of Non-Thermal Processing Methods on Physicochemical, Bioactive, and Microbiological Properties of Fresh Pineapple (Ananas comosus L. Merr.) Juice
Background: Pineapple juice processing is an art of preservation, and the processing technologies play important role in pineapple juice quality. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the potential impacts of non-thermal processing methods on the physicochemical, bioactive, and microbiological properties of fresh pineapple juice. Methods: Extracted juices were subjected to several non-thermal...

متن کاملBromelain: An Overview
Bromelain is a crude extract from the fruit or stem of pineapple [Ananas comosus (Linn.) Merr.] plant. It consists of different closely related proteinases which are good antiinflammatory, antithrombotic and fibrinolytic agents. The active fractions have been characterized biochemically and found to be effective after oral administration. It has earned universal acceptability as a phytotherapeu...
